About Kimmo

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Kimmo was my first dog and a part of my family for over a decade. He was an ACDRA rescue that has been a joy to us all. Unfortunately, he recently bit my young son unprovoked for a second time. We want him to live his twilight years in peace and quiet. Kimmo is approximately 13/14 years old. At this point he's a low energy level ACD. He tore his ACL when he was 5 and while we rehabbed it the best we could. The vet told us it would begin to bother him in his old age. Right now his back right leg shakes when he's on it for too long. Very rarely slips on it if he tries to make a quick cut. Our old man still has that spark to play and fetch though. Hes content to lay in bed all day or snuggle on the couch. Kimmo very much likes to be pet and scratched. He has a 5 year old deaf ACD sister that he lives with, but is most comfortable with other older dogs. We are asking for Kimmo to go to a lower energy household with no children under 8. He is respectful to dogs on leash and off. He knows how to sit, shake, lay down and knows to ask outside to potty. The few times he's wiggled out the front or back door, you'll find him whining on the front porch shortly after. He loves his people and is still a little Velcro boy. Parting with him is breaking our entire family's hearts, but we think it is best for all. Kimmo is currently staying with a family friend and their 10 year old dog and is adjusting well. We would love to keep in contact with whoever takes him, and if local; my wife and I would love to say hi every so often. I'm willing to drive as far as Pittsburgh (5 hour radius) to get our special man a good 3rd act. Please know how posting him paints us deep inside.
