About onyx

9 month old Lab Mix/ (possible german sheppard) male. I got Onyx 3 weeks ago at the shelter, he was found on the side of the road. He did very well at the groomers, had a bath, brush, dried, nail trim without issue. He is crate trained, neutered, all vaccines recent, microchipped, has been check at the vet and besides being a little underweight, he is healthy. He is learning to sit, stay, and fetch, he picked it up fast, but not consistently yet. He loves squeeky toys, ropes, fetch sticks and biting hose water. He gets overexcited and has a hard time paying attention at times, mostly after he's been alone for a while. Sadly, he is not compatible with my household. He jumps and almost knocks me over (I don't weight much) he is very mouthy ( he's still a puppy), i have a senior disabled family who is a fall/bleed risk, He has also chased my cat, displays hunting habits, and is incompatible with my small senior dog (small dog syndrome) Onyx is strong and can jump up to my face level 5'5'. He needs someone bigger and stronger than i am to handle. With his jumping and being very mouthy, i would not recommend him around children He has been anxious at times, and was prescribed trazadone for short term as he transitions from streets & shelter to home. We are working on the jumping and mouthiness, as well as slow feeder as he inhales his food. I can remove objects from his mouth without issue. Due to my household situation, i have kept him outside or in the crate for the safety of everyone. This is not ideal and i want to find him a good home that is compatible with him. I have a certified trainer coming this week, so hopefully when you get him, he will improved. Name is new and can easily be changed. Accessories available-- everything i've bought for him can go with him. All brand new-XL crate, Large raised food & water dish, 3 dog beds, ropes, squeeky toys, fetch stick, balls, and 38 lb bag of dog food (purchased 2/10)
