Meet Athena - A Smart, Loving, Energetic Young Dog Looking for Her Forever Home Athena is a 10-month-old Great Pyrenees / German Shepherd / herding mix who was rescued after being dumped in a field near our home at just three months old. She's now grown into a sweet, smart, and energetic young dog who's ready for a family of her own. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. Athena is very intelligent and already knows several tricks, including sit, lay down, spinning in a circle, and jumping through a hoop. She's still working on her recall ('come'), but learns quickly and has lots of potential with continued training. Athena loves being active and especially loves water and swimming, so she'll do best in a home with a large yard or space to run. She does great with other dogs, is okay with cats, and does well around horses and goats. Because of her herding instincts, she'll need supervision around cattle since she likes to chase. She's affectionate and loyal, but can be a little sensitive when corrected, so she does best with patient, positive training. She has been an outdoor dog, sleeps in an outbuilding, and is technically housebroken, holding her bladder overnight without accidents. Athena would be a wonderful match for an active family or individual who wants a smart, loving dog with lots of potential and a big heart. Must be willing to submit to background check and provide references
