Iska is a beautiful German Shepard dog with big brown 'old soul' eyes. I really wish I knew more about her past, she is extremely intelligent, a true working dog that is always trying to figure out what you want her to do so she can do it and make you proud. If I call a dog on a pack walk and they don't come right away, true to her breed she will go to the dog herd them back over to me and look up with her still anxious eyes and a little nervous smile. All that I know of Iska's past is the she was brought into a high kill shelter by a Good Samaritan as a stray. She was most definitely driven somewhere and abandoned bc this german Shepard's goal since I've had her is to make sure all the dogs are accounted for and her human is safe. She was brought into the shelter with a collar on her neck so that had become so ingrown it had to be surgically removed. The shelter clearly knew her owner was not looking for her so she was put on the euthanasia list before the mandatory hold time (3 days in case their owner is looking for them) was up. She also only had one picture taken, which was a blurry mugshot of a pic to possibly save her life. (Last photo in the post) But it was that picture, with that nervous smile and big eyes that just want you to accept her that melted my heart. Iska has had a serious glow up since she has been here with us since May. (The before pics also in post) . This girl deserves to feel valued, safe and loved.
