About Sounder

Woof! My name is Sounder, and I'm a 12.5-year-old cocker spaniel boy looking for my forever home where I can spend my golden years being loved. Life hasn't always been easy for me. My previous owner loved me but couldn't take care of me anymore, and I arrived to rescue in rough shape. Nothing too big - I have those classic Cocker skin and ear issues and I take an easy medication for my thyroid. I went to the vet and getting all fixed up�'�|I'm going to be just fine! I do need to shed a few pounds (I'm 30 lbs of pure love right now), but I'm working on it. I need a family who can help me maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Here's what you need to know about me: I'm the ultimate companion dog aka Velcro cocker. I will follow you everywhere-and I mean EVERYWHERE. Kitchen, bathroom, living room�'�| wherever you are is where I want to be. My vision and hearing aren't what they used to be (just part of being a distinguished senior gentleman), but that doesn't slow me down one bit! I have a couple of adorable signature moves - I love to lean my whole body against you like I'm giving you the biggest hug, and if we're in the car together (which I LOVE), I'll put my paw right on your hand (I'm a great passenger). When I hear sirens, I become a cocker spaniel fire truck and howl along with perfect pitch until they're gone. I'll also be your official kitchen assistant and taste tester (and I take treats gently), always positioned right under your feet hoping for a little something delicious! I get along great with other dogs and older, dog-savvy kids. I'm good on a leash, I don't jump on the furniture, and I sleep peacefully in my own bed at night. I'm still learning the housebreaking thing (we're making progress!), and I'm not into toys much-I just want YOU. I need someone who's home most of the time because being alone isn't really my thing. What I DO need is patience, love, and someone who understands that us senior pups have so much love left to give.
