Hank is a special case and requires a special adopter. He was dumped and rescued 2 years ago as a pup. Since then he has had 3 failed adoptions, every time we see new issues that possibly lead back to the previous home life he had. 1. He attaches very deeply to female small children and will not allow any outside males in the home close to them (possibly witnessed child abuse). A male child household would be ideal. 2. He was raised with cats in my home, and while he mostly ignores them, he sometimes wants to chase them and due to his size that can cause destruction in the household. Outside full grown cats are fine, no kittens. He wants to play with the cats and may hurt them. So we would prefer he have to cats in the home. 3. He loves pets, treats, and has a hound nose that will get him into trouble. He is house trained but left unsupervised he will go in the house, so we crate when he is unattended. No carpet/rugs is recommended as he prefers this. 4. Gets along great with other dogs, except when food is involved, he will steal treats, food, etc so if you have a food aggressive dog, he is not, he just loves to eat, I would watch out, because he will strike back to get the food. 5. He loves to roam if he gets off leash or out of the fence, and he can DIG! We have to use a combination of a fence and inground wire fence to keep him from digging underneath. He is leash trained but forgets his manners at first so a no pull leash is recommended. Loves dog parks and gets along great with other dogs and socializes well out in public. 6. Only absolutely serious adopters only. I cannot watch him have another failed adoption again.
