About MERLIN

Adoption Fee: $500
Chihuahua
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

MERLIN is a 2-year-old, 6.2 pound merle Chihuahua who was found wandering the streets. A kind Good Samaritan took him in. When no one came for him, she reached out to us for help. He is a sweet, active little guy looking for a loving home. MERLIN is affectionate, loving, and eager to be close. He attaches to his person quickly and thrives on human companionship. One of his foster mom's favorite things is gently rubbing his neck, his eyes will slowly close and he'll fall asleep sitting right there, perfectly content. He loves being included in daily activities, rides beautifully in the car, and is well behaved when out and about. He is happiest when he's right by his person's side. MERLIN does very well with the other small dogs in his foster home and enjoys running and playing outside with his foster siblings. He would do fine as an only dog, but having another dog in the home would be beneficial if he will be left alone for longer periods. He can sometimes try to protect his foster parent by giving a small growl toward other dogs, but this behavior is being addressed and is improving quickly. A firm 'no sir' and removing him from a lap corrects the behavior immediately, and he responds well to clear boundaries. He is not a good fit for young kids and has not been cat tested. MERLIN's house training is going great and he is almost 100% housebroken as long as he is taken out regularly. Because he was found as a stray and we don't know how or why he ended up on his own, a secure, fenced yard is required to keep him safe. He has a healthy appetite and is learning patience when it comes to treats, waiting his turn is still a work in progress. MERLIN enjoys playing with toys, especially small squeaky ones, and happily entertains himself with his favorite Himalayan yak cheese bone. At night, he loves snuggling under blankets with his person. MERLIN is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
