MOLLY is a beautiful 1-year-old, 13 pound Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix with the cutest underbite. She came to us from a shelter in South Florida after being found as a stray. Based on her early behavior, we don't believe she ever lived in a home before but she is learning quickly and becoming more confident each day. MOLLY is the sweetest little girl who truly just wants to be loved by her person. She adores snuggles and kisses and has recently discovered that her favorite place to sleep is curled up in the big bed with her human. She loves the closeness and clearly feels safest near her person. Watching her learn what comfort and safety feel like has been incredibly rewarding. MOLLY can be timid and sensitive, likely due to her past as a stray. She is not a fan of dogs being in her face and would do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back male dog who respects her space. She has not been tested with cats. Her best home is going to be calm and quiet without kids. MOLLY is still working on house training and continues to improve with consistency and patience. She knows how to use a doggie door, which has been a big help as she gains confidence and routine. Because she was a stray and is naturally timid, a secure fenced yard is required to keep her safe. MOLLY enjoys going outside with her person, sometimes to play, sometimes just to wander slowly and explore. One of her cutest little quirks is her habit of quietly 'sneaking' toys away, collecting them like a tiny hoarder. When MOLLY first arrived, her foster mom noticed an unusual behavior. After careful observation and a veterinary visit, she was diagnosed with a non-focal 'fly-bite' type seizure. During these episodes, Molly snaps her head and appears to try to catch something in the air. These seizures are uncommon and often stress-related, and in many dogs they resolve on their own - which appears to be happening with Molly. As she has become more comfortable and secure, the episodes have become less frequent. She is not on medication, and her veterinarian advised that many dogs never experience them again. While there is a small possibility they could develop into typical seizures, the vet stressed that this is rare. MOLLY is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
