Rose is a petite German Shepherd with a big heart and an even bigger story. For nearly two years, she lived alone in a backyard in Houston-through brutal heat, freezing temperatures, a derecho, and Hurricane Beryl. When temperatures dropped below 30 degrees in February 2025, neighbors stepped in to help, and Rose's journey toward safety finally began. When she came into rescue, Rose had never been vaccinated and tested heartworm positive. Today, she is fully vaccinated, spayed, and successfully moving through heartworm treatment. Most importantly, she is thriving. Rose is about 2%BD years old and weighs around 44 pounds. She is smart, athletic, affectionate, and eager to learn. She loves running, hiking, training, and engaging both her mind and body. She's house trained, does well in a kennel when needed, and enjoys structure and routine. Rose currently lives peacefully with multiple dogs, including an older three-legged Doberman and a senior Chihuahua mix. She also has a best friend-Igloo, a young Irish Cream Golden Retriever-and plays beautifully with dogs she knows and trusts. Like many dogs who lacked early socialization, Rose is working through leash reactivity with unfamiliar dogs. She is making steady progress with training and would do best with a committed adopter who understands that continued guidance, patience, and positive reinforcement will help her keep blossoming. Rose would thrive in an active home that enjoys exercise, enrichment, and bonding time. She could be happy as an only dog or with a compatible canine companion. What she wants most is what she's never truly had before: safety, consistency, and someone who chooses her-forever. Rose has survived so much and still greets the world with curiosity, joy, and love. She is ready for her next chapter. Could that be with you?
