Approx. 6 years old. I adopted 'Maxine' from the 11 mile shelter Nov. 5th 2024. She is a Anatollian Shepherd. They were going to put her down the next day at 4:00 pm if she was not adopted because she was so stressed out. She would not respond to 'Maxine' at all. The next morning, she needs a name, from across the yard, I yelled 'FREEDOM' and she came running. She has responded to her name ever time. It's been over a year now and her stress level is way down. She is a good girl, she has had some training, more would be a good thing. My decision to adopt was a good and bad idea. I saved a life but my age is a major factor. It has been a hard decision but the best one. I need to find 'FREEDOM' a new home. She is high energy and I am 79, not a good mix. Plus she does not play nice with cats, of which I have two. To answer a few questions, she managed to open the gate by jumping against it at around 4 AM one morning as a neighbor was walking her dog (a shepherd). Around 7:40 am, my neighbor calls to tell me my gate is open. I go to the front door and there she is jumping all around happy to see me. I go and secure the gate, problem solved. Later that afternoon, there is a knock at my front door, the lady is asking if this is her home and is she okay. She explains that she was walking her dog, saw the open gate and a dog running free. She explains to me how Freedom walked her and her dog home, by walking in front of them stopping on occasion and turning around to see if they are still there. The street she lives on is a mile away. Once she had her dog taken care of she was going to get Freedom in her car and return her, problem was Freedom was already gone. Freedom did her job and came home. Hope this answers some questions. I am not big enough nor strong enough to manage her. She needs a good home as so many others, please help.
