PEGGY is a 6 year old, 6.6 pound Pomeranian surrendered to find a home where she can live as a pet. She is a loving girl who will need a calm home, a predictable routine, and someone who understands that trust takes time. In return, she offers quiet companionship, tail wags, and a heart that wants very much to belong. PEGGY is very sweet and learning a lot of new things about the world about her. Her favorite spot in her foster home is tucked into the couch, with dog beds being a close second. From there, she likes to watch what's going on when her people are moving around, or relax nearby when you're sitting down. If you walk too far away, she won't follow just yet, but she'll softly cry until you come back or bring her with you. She loves to be spoken to sweetly and once she's with you, she's content and calm. She especially loves snuggling on her foster mom's chest while she reads or works, it's one of her favorite ways to feel safe and close. PEGGY coexists well with calm dogs and is happiest with a small quiet companion, but playful, bigger dogs make her nervous. She would likely be fine around cats, as she shows little interest in them. Because of her timid nature, she would do best in a home with no kids or older, respectful children who understand giving her space and moving slowly. PEGGY is still learning the basics of potty training and does not yet understand how to signal when she needs to go outside. With a consistent routine, she will potty outdoors, although she may occasionally choose the patio. If not taken out regularly, she may have an accident where she's been resting, including once on the couch, which we promise she found just as surprising as we did. She will need patience, structure, and understanding as she continues to learn. Outside in the yard, PEGGY loves to quietly follow her person a few feet behind, her tail wagging the whole time. She may trail the other dogs or do a bit of exploring on her own, but her favorite place is always near her human. She does not understand the leash yet, so she's currently being carried in a sling on walks to help her get used to the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. PEGGY seems to feel safest eating in an open kennel, which may give her a sense of comfort and security. At night she sleeps wherever she's placed, whether in a dog bed or with her humans, and settles in easily. PEGGY is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
