(willing to drive up to 200 MILES ). 2.5 Y/O MALE SHEPHERD MIX (DOB: 4/15/23). His name is 'DRESDEN '. Background: the Current Shepherd Parents adopted Dresden when he was a puppy, he was rescued from the shelter as a stray and was in there for about 3 months before they adopted him. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. UNKNOWN with kids. Good with dogs. UNKNOWN with cats. House trained. Crate trained. Any known medical issues?:NO, but does have a Separation Anxiety . Abuse/Neglect History?:YES . ENERGY LEVEL:HIGH . PREY DRIVE LEVEL: HIGH. Weighs 84 lbs. Currently on Nutro Natural Choice Adult Dry' plus homemade blend food. Good with car rides?: NO, very anxious and whines the whole time. Socialized with: *people?: NO.HAS STRANGER FEAR/AGGRESSION *dogs?: YES. Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): NO. Proper Introduction Guidelines definitely need to be followed with him. Do not approach him. Do not try to touch or pet him. Loves: chew toys - squeaky toys - bandanas - treats - fruits / veggies - window watching - long hikes - bike rides - cuddling - going on walks - chilling on the couch - playing with other dogs - balls - sleeping in bed with his person - stuffed Shin bones . *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?:YES . *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH):NO. *Good on a Leash?:FAIR . *Lovable?: YES, once you are his person. *Eager and fast learner?: YES. Bite History?:YES. When triggered, he will nip/bite. Some known triggers are: touching his paws- towel drying him - strangers getting up too close to him - people trying to touch / pet him -taking items away from him- people reaching inside his crate if he is already in there- . He does have issues with Resource Guarding and Stranger Fear / Aggression. The Stranger Fear / Aggression makes perfect sense considering that Dresden was found as a stray, and it is very hard telling the negative experiences that he had with humans up until he was rescued. He has been worked with by a Behavior Specialist and has shown Improvement. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'Dresden loves his people. If you are chosen by him, his love is fierce. He can be a very fun, silly and cuddly boy and believes he is a lap dog at 84 lbs. He will be your morning and evening alarm clock, in case you oversleep or forget his dinner on cue. His favorite activities involve wrestling with his dog-sister, protecting the yard, taste-testing new homemade treats and any outdoor exercise. He is typically gentle with other dogs, including very small ones. He has made substantial growth in the time he has lived in our home, but we are not comfortable having him around an infant'. Re Homing because�'�|: The Current Shepherd Parents are expecting a baby and they are not comfortable with Dresden's Triggers and feel it is best to get him into the home that he needs. Dresden will be a great companion for the right person. As you can see from the pictures, Dresden is such a good boy, a very happy and playful guy, he just has some issues that need to be respected and worked through. I believe that Dresden has Trauma Response/Triggers due to an Abuse History and is very misunderstood. He needs someone that will understand and respect his triggers and help him work through them. Will thrive best�'�|?: In a loving home with someone who is home a lot, someone experienced with Aggressive Behavior Issues (Trauma Response/Triggers/Resource Guarding/Stranger Fear) who can work with Dresden through his issues. Someone with NO kids because of Dresden's triggers�'�| we want to set him up for success��%A4%8D. Preferably someone WITH other dogs because Dresden takes comfort being around other dogs and this should help him be more comfortable through this process.
