About Lyla

We adopted Lyla from a humane society about 1.5 years ago and are sadly having to rehome her due to personality issues between her and our senior female. We have 3 dogs, Lyla, a senior male, and a senior female. For the first 4 months, they were the three best friends that anyone could have. We fell in love with Lyla and we were ecstatic that our other dogs did too, until we made a mistake and they our females come in contact with each-other while they were eating. There have been a handful of fights since that point, only between those two. Each fight getting worse and worse. She is still best friends with our senior male, but our females cannot even look at each other without growling now. She is really a sweet girl, and I honestly think some professional training could get her where she needs to be, but we are still recovering from these vet bills from their altercations and it's just not safe for either of them to live in the same household for much longer, despite our best efforts of keeping them separated at all times. My biggest fear in this is Lyla's protectiveness and anxiety will have her misunderstood and someone will give up on her for good. My husband and I both have ended up getting bit while separating the fights, but not once has she gotten aggressive near us in any other manner. I hope to find a home for her where she can learn to channel her energy in the right place and is loved for who she is. She's a smart and loving girl, she just doesn't love my other female. If anyone has any advice or can point me in a direction of giving Lyla the best chance at a bright future, I'd be forever grateful.
