About Sareka

Sareka Nelson 71/2 yrs old Husky-Coyote - pure white - crystal blue eyes that change to a white flower shape when she's playing. Spayed., chipped, she's due for her this year's shots otherwise completely current. I got her from the Troutdale Shelter., she had only been there 4days coming in smelling like campfire smoke., no collar. They had a stay hold on her for 6more days. I went by to see her everyday on my way home., visited with her for 30mns each time., when they finally released her to me on November 17th 2024 I was given no information about her at that time. She was badly beaten up., malnutritioned., & seemed to have a wild side to her. I took her to the vet the same day I picked her up., they put 3stitches in her nose, prescribed antibiotics & vitamins. Her teeth were badly orange colored.. I give her Dental Sticks., which has improved the discoloration 100% Despite all of this she was in very good spirits. I noticed that everything seemed as if it were the first time she had done anything., being curious with the simplest things. My Cat had grown up with dogs small & large., she enjoyed them very much. Although with Sareka being so rambunctious. She keep to herself., until night 3. Silese has always slept with all of her 14yrs. When came to crawl into bed with me., Sareka grabbed her like a toy & shook her a half of head spin before I grabbed her, she let go. The next morning I loaded her up in the truck to run some errands with me, when we got on the freeway she slumped down very depressed & actually started shaking and tears formed. It wasn't until we were headed home., she realized I wasn't taking her back to the shelter, then became her spirited self again. The next 6months. I tried every training tool I could think of & research on. I separated them., trading off free times. I put Sareka in a kennel while Silese walked about the house. I eliminated all toys that resembled animals & eventually all of them together. I don't allow rough play nor tug rope of any kind. It seemed as though I was just failing. At the six month mark. I had, had enough. Sareka felt that I was very unhappy which made things even worse. I finally found a couple who really liked her & give her to them. The very next day at 2pm I receive a call from the post office lady here in town. ( everyone knows she is my dog) mind huskies are exscape artists., so needless to say she'd loose a couple of times. Anyways the PO lady said that my dog was there & that she had been dumped off by the couple who I'd given her to. I agreed to come pick her after work at 6pm on my way home. The night that she was gone with her new owners., oddly I felt sad., I missed her. Had a difficult time sleeping & wondered if she was going to be ok., although extremely relieved that the chaos was gone. But I had truly missed her. When I picked her that evening at 6pm. She was surprised that I had come for her. She did her happy dance & I told her that I missed her & was worried about her. We got into the car to come home., her whole sense of attitude had changed. I told her that we needed to talk & she sit obediently taking in every word that I said to her. I told her 'Look, Silese is your Sister & you must leave her alone. She is must older than you & can not handle being played with like that. I told her no more running off., chewing up things bcuz your board. You chew your chewy Hyde's & behave. I asked her if she was listening - & in her husky talking ways - she literally said yes! She understands. From that day forward. I can leave the two of them alone with absolutely no troubles. She's very cautious & makes sure. 9months of consistent training, reinforcement & love., we through it. She loves to run., we can do 6mile walks & she never tires. She's always up for whatever venture you have planned. Along the way I learned that she had been bread - born to be a bait dog. 51/2yrs the only time she wasn't in a kennel was for 2min. To start the Dog fights. Well NO WONDER! I said. No wonder why everything is new to her. I'm her first real home, first any thing to show her what love is. The first for walks to the park., the first to the beach the first to sleep in someone's arms. She is VERY trained., lessons very well., she wants to behave. She adores be loved. I have not been able to clip her nails yet. I taught her to shake but still doesn't let me hold her paws for any length of time. So they desperately need done. She has a nervous itching problem or when she's board or hasn't had enough exercise. She only will be washed by a hose outside. I got her a kiddie pool I put warm water in & rinse with a hose. She is deathly afraid of bathtubs. Ya can't let her off the leash unless she is in a fenced yard. If she is with another dog she will stay in the fenced yard. She is full of life, deserves true love. I work 16hr days, 6days a week. She deserves more.
