About Skippy

Here is some information about me: I like to take treats from your hand. I think other bunnies are interesting. I'm a great bunny for calm households. I'm a great bunny for experienced bunny owners. I don't like: loud noises, to be groomed, to be held, to be picked up, I am: active, brave, curious, shy, sweet, I like: dogs, to binky, to explore, to run, Rabbit Angels? Meet Skippy! Skippy is a petite, shy, but sweet young man. His origin story is a sad one. He came from an abuse case in Allegan county, where he and his rabbit family experienced human behavior at its very worst. Skippy, by all rights, should want nothing to do with humans. His daily joy is a reminder that we do not deserve animals. They are truly angels on this earth. In spite of where he came from, Skippy has a heart-warming capacity for joy and companionship bundled in a tiny 2 pound package! He is an active and curious boy. He is still wary of humans and takes some time to warm up to new people and new places. He has boundaries around petting, and allows it cautiously and only on his terms (usually while eating or accepting treats). He is still quite nervous about being picked up and held, and he will need a safe space to hide when he is overwhelmed or needs alone time. He has never shown any aggression, and he desperately wants to be loved and included in the ways that feel safe to him. He will sit with you and watch you as you work, or will interact with you when he feels safe or you have treats to offer. Skippy is not a great starter rabbit. He doesn't cuddle. He is nervous about being picked up. Fast movements and loud noises are scary for him. He will need a family who is patient, who understands that animals are capable of trauma,too. But, with a patient family, he will: Take treats from your hand! Sit with or near you while you are in his environment! Sploot or flop when he is relaxed! Run and jump for joy when you sit with him! He may even give kisses or eat from your hand! He has shown interest in other animals in the household and may be a good candidate for bonding with another rabbit. He would do well with polite, calm dogs in the household, though rabbits should never be alone with dogs or cats. Spending daily time sitting or laying down in his enclosure will help build a bond with him. He is also happy to sit and watch from nearby as you go about your business. He will put on a show for you and binky when he is happy! Skippy is a special boy and he needs a special family who understands and respects his needs.
