Meet fritz. He was my neighbors elderly dog but sadly my neighbor passed away last year. His family couldn't or wouldn't take him in and animal control got involved by the land owner,I ended up taking guardianship over him with the goal of getting him healthy and finding him a forever home. I couldn't permanently keep him because I have a daughter with pet allergies and 4 bunnies of my own as well as 2 cats ive been fostering for my best friend.i also just dont have the proper space for him, he stays in my spare bedroom or in my back yard for a majorityof the day and i cant let him freely roam the house because of my daughters allergy plus im afraid he will go after my free roaming bunnies.i know he used to sleep in the bed with his previous owner but that is not a possibility with me either.he has a bit of separation anxiety because when i put him in the room at night he howls for a few minutes. I can tell hes lonely and it breaks my heart. His family has been helping me with vet care and food but they are asking me to find a home for him soon because they cant keep helping unfortunately. I love this dog with all my heart but I just cant keep him, I dragged this out as long as I could but I dont have a choice. The reason he stayed here this long was because he had heart worm when I got him and he was severely underweight. We got him up to an acceptable weight first before we could start treatments for heart worm. Now that all of that is done ive been looking for a home for him. Local shelter is at capacity and im afraid he won't get adopted because of his age plus he needs a medicated shampoo for a skin condition he has. Im holding on to hope that if I keep trying to find a home for him he will have a wonderful forever home one that I wish I could have provided.
