We are prepared to give away, for free, $2000 worth of kit, and our dog, to the right person. This is not a dog for sale! This is just for the right person who can care for Bilbo and love him as much as we have. Includes: Bilbo Doggins himself High end Garmin Training collar Camo collar and waist-band leach very comfortable Two pairs of pyjamas Toenail trimmers Curry combs Full-body down snowsuit, with his name on it, for real Two lifejackets Very fancy large dog bed (in the photo) Kong Chew and other chew toys Pet carrier in case he needs to fly Bilbo is a wonderful companion, kind, and always ready for an adventure. He's well-known about town. He is safe and surprisingly self-aware with little kids, calm in the house, and absolutely unrestrained with joy in the forest. He's very healthy, about 7-8 years old and looking for a new home in Petersburg. He has beautiful, endearing eyes, and is really expressive in the face. He's neutered too. What he's looking for: Daily walks Weekend adventures Plenty of at-home attention Warm, dry, indoor accommodations Kibble fortified with food scraps Requires no special diet or medications I am not his 'owner', more his benefactor and friend. He's his own guy. He came to me for help 6 years ago after being injured and left for dead as part of a pig-hunting pack. I've taken responsibility for him ever since. He's a Catahoula, a Southern pig hunting breed, and that kind of brutal treatment was common in Oklahoma where we came to us. He is a natural hunter, he'll track anything whether you want him to or not. He is a natural deer-seeking missile, if you need a tracker, he's your guy. Why in the world would we want to give him away, even though we love him dearly? We are preparing to do some long-term sailing, probably internationally in the next year, and he's unsteady and irritable on boats. Diesel engine noise gets his goat. If he can get away from the engine noise, and the seas are calm, I think he's fine on weekend boat trips. I know it will take some time to find the right new home for him, but he needs a new home by May. We want to find a situation that's as beneficial to him as it is to you. The drawbacks: He's an incorrigible chicken thief, he can devour one in about 30 seconds, it's incredible. His success rate at avoiding porcupines is low, but his shock collar solves that problem if you use it. If he gets too playful he can bite a little, usually just snagging clothes His appetites are absurd, keep him away from roadkill, seriously.
