URGENT!!! AFTER 88 DAYS, GOOBER #A2240723 STILL THINKS YOU MIGHT CHOOSE HIM!!! Please be his hero before he is killed!!! When Goober (#A2240723) sees someone walking by his kennel, he gets excited. This 8 year old senior stands up on his hind legs, pushes his nose through a small hole at the too of the bars and wags his tail. He's hoping. Still hoping that this time, someone will stop. But look at his eyes when he does this. They're sad. Worn down. Like he knows what's coming but he can't help trying anyway. This is what 88 days in a shelter looks like: Video: https://fb.watch/EOEbyXpyK2/?mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e Goober came to South LA shelter as a stray on 10/25. Shortly after, he caught a URI and was confined to his kennel for weeks. No walks. No enrichment. Just four walls and non-stop noise. You can see what it did to him. More anxious. More stressed. Spirit wearing thin. But he's still gentle. Still affectionate. He's been in playgroups and volunteers say he lights up in the yard. For an 8year old senior, he still has so much life left in him. He just needs someone to finally stop at his kennel. Goober is one of the shelter's LONGEST RESIDENTS. And he's not alone. There are dozens of senior shepherds like him, all waiting in an overcrowded shelter while most people aren't even aware there's a crisis sos This shouldn't be normal. Dogs like this shouldn't get lost in the system for 88 days. But without more people paying attention, it will keep happening. What Goober needs before he stops trying: - Long-term foster or adopter who will choose the dog still standing on his back legs with hope. - Pledges for senior vetting and to attract a reputable rescue. - Shares to reach beyond rescue circles-most people have no idea this is happening. Goober has been waiting since October. He's still trying. Please don't make him wait another day. The shelter is open Tuesday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday & Sundays 11am-5pm. Mondays for emergencies only. SLA / Chesterfield Square Animal Shelter 1850 W. 60th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90047 1-323-565-2161 or 1-888-452-7381 / Bonnie 818-430-5959
