Smidge was born in our backyard in 2020. We did get her fixed and have been providing her food and outdoor shelter since then. We never made her an indoor cat because we are allergic to cats. She is not feral by any means, but we have never physically handled her. We are needing to rehome her because my sister had to suddenly move in at the start of the year, including her large dog that is not friendly toward cats. We are trying to rehome her as soon and safely as possible, as right now the backyard is off limits to the large dog as long as Smidge is back there She is very sweet-accepts treats from our hands, comes out of her cat house to say hi and hang out with us when we go in the backyard. She tolerates us petting her if she's eating, and rubs against our legs to ask for treats-we just haven't been able to pick her up. She doesn't roam the neighborhood, she really does just stick to our backyard-it is her home. Smidge does enter our house freely when we leave the back door open and has slowly gotten more brave in exploring more of the immediate downstairs area. With enough patience and the constant exposure to people that comes with living indoors, I see her being a very sweet indoor companion kitty.
