*FRANKY DOES HAVE AN ALLERGY TO CHICKEN! His food will have to be a high quality food with no chicken, no chicken by product, or chicken fat. *He also has allergies (responsive to steroid an Benadryl). Young Poodle/Sheepdog Mix Needing New Home My husband and I have made the difficult decision to rehome one of our dogs. We have been debating the decision for over a year now, and can no longer find a solution other than finding him a new home. It is not something ideal for us, necessarily, but we know it will be best for him and his needs. This is Franky. He is 2 years old and 10 months, he will be turning 3 on March 24th of this year. I have had him since he was 9 weeks old. He is a large dog, weighing about 70 lbs (his last weight at the vet was 66.6). He is neutered, chipped, and up to date on all of his shots. He has behaved wonderfully with cats, dogs, and children of all ages in our experience, even our daughter from newborn to now, as she's just now 13 months old. He's an incredibly smart and patient dog, and eager to please. He likes open spaces to roam and run, and would likely do well with another dog (a more submissive one) or as an only dog with a very involved human. He's never had any aggressive tendencies, though he does still have that herding breed in him and nips at pants and long shirts. Overall though he has been easy to train. He's also kennel trained. Our need for rehoming is that we simply can't keep up with the energy, and his need for space is higher than we can provide. Living in the middle of the city with a smaller yard is not the best life for him- and he deserves to be happy and to have his needs met, not just have to deal with it because rehoming is hard. We would require a small rehoming fee. Restrictions: -He has general allergies (responsive to Benadryl and steroid treatment) and a food allergy to chicken (avoid chicken in his food, even fat- it gives him horrible gas and has made him sick) -He NEEDS a larger yard or land to run on -he needs a tall fence, ideally 8 foot- he climbs our 6 foot fence and we have had to install wire at the top to deter him. If a 6 foot fence is installed, I would recommend he be supervised during outdoor activities. -I'd really like to stay in touch :') just to see that he adjusts well at least. We want someone to love him as much as we do We would provide: -Some of his current food if desired -his bowl (if desired) -his kennel and kennel bed (if desired) -a dog bed (if desired) -some of the treats he likes best -his toys and any personal items of his -his collar and leash -a copy of his vet records We love him dearly and just want him to live the life he deserves. Even if that can't be with us.
