Right off the bat, you will notice that Snorkel breathes funny - she sounds, well, snorkely! Snorkel came to us a stray, so we had some investigative work to do with our vet to try to figure out why. After a few evaluations, it was determined that she endured some major head trauma in her past; there is evidence of previous fractures to her skull and teeth. The good news is that she has healed - quite remarkably so! The bad news is that she had to have some teeth removed and the trauma has impacted her sinuses to the point where she has some impediment to her breathing. It is enough to make her sound funny, but not enough that she is not still living a normal, comfortable life! We'll never know what really happened--was it caused by a car? A horse? Other? But we are looking forward and setting our sights on a new future for Snorkel. We estimate her around 3-4 years old, and she weighs about 60lbs. Snorkel is polite, affectionate, and well-mannered. While many other dogs are loud and bouncing off the walls in their kennels, she sits politely on her bed and doesn't make a big mess. Snorkel would prefer to be the only dog in her home, although she can meet dogs nicely. She just does not seem to like other dogs, and will avoid them when possible.
