Courtesy Posting: X URGENT- LOS ANGELES/VAN NUYS, CA (SO CAL) - ID #A2251333 - 'DUMPLING' - LA CITY SHELTER/EAST VALLEY asking for help and likely needs rescue per email 1/16- said to be due to being wary of strangers as many chows and neglected ones are, but notes showing she has been improving each playgroup 44 LB APPROX 7 YR FEMALE CHOW - SHY AND SCARED INITIALLY, NEEDS PATIENT CHOW SAVVY HOME OR FOSTER - ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE - AND RESCUES NEED A FOSTER TO SAVE. SHELTER IS FULL. DUMPLING APPEARS TO BE DOG FRIENDLY, as been in playgroups, see video This dear chow girl was found as a stray and brought to the LA City shelter on 1/7. Sadly, her owner named came and the shelter has fondly named her Dumpling, and estimates she is 7 years young. At only 44 lbs she is also perfect size, but may be a bit underweight. She just finished a round of antibiotics and hopefully will be feeling much better soon. The shelter has provided nice video of her hanging out for the first in a yard with other dogs and she was calm around: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/sIHOIMixhTw and has improved in each playgroup mingling a bit more. Sadly, we understand she was found in neglected condition with a thinning coat from fleas, and possibly previously bred and or had a recent litter due to enlarged mammary glands. She also has some dental tartar noted. However, the shelter let us know with treatment, her fur is already growing back in just one week! As Dumpling is shy at first, it is also recommended to go slow when going over her head or leashing her, although she was walked into the shelter on a leash by someone. A chow savvy home is therefore more ideal and recommended. She is very urgent as the shelter is full and asking for help. We have behavior and medical notes also if you need them. If you are interested in adopting this dear girl, please contact the shelter immediately at: 888-452-7381 and reference her ID. If interested in fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for her rescue), please also contact: [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap. We will try to pair fosters or interested parties to foster to adopt through a rescue group. If you are a rescue group and interested in rescuing this sweet girl, please email the shelter right away to all addresses at: [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. Please also contact Robin at [email protected].
