Joey Wants to Be Your Valentine , Call it Puppy LOVE !!!! This post is going out with a prayer that Joey's special valentine sees this post before it's too late . The NYC shelters are no longer safe havens for dogs. They have become places of heartbreak, where up to 30 dogs a dayare placed on euthanasia lists simply because there is no space. Poor Joey is on that list. And Joey is just a puppy a young soul who needs a little patience, guidance, and love. He doesn't deserve for his story to end this way. He deserves a chance, a home, and someone willing to see the beautiful dog he is becoming. We are urgently looking for a foster or adopter to save Joey's life. Joey is an active, fun, playful, and shyly sweet puppy. He arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender , a boy who once lived in a home where he was joyful, wide eyed, innocent, and ready for love and adventure. He previously lived with two other dogs and was tolerant of them, and according to his owner, wonderful with other dogs both on and off leash. Joey is now searching for his forever family one who will include him in their adventures and continue his training. He's already partially housetrained and just needs help learning leash manners so his excitement for the big, wide world doesn't pull you along with him. He even loves bath time! Let's get Joey to his next family in time for Valentine's Day. No small children , recommended 13 + If you are an experienced foster or adopter who can help this sweet boy, please text 516-457-3678. A VOLUNTEER WRITES 'You'll probably hear Joey before you see him, he's very vocal and has a distinctive boof! When he plays, he hops around like a little kangaroo maybe that's how he got his name? He's just a puppy, barely a year old and it seems like he hasn't quite filled out his frame or knows just how to use his body, especially his long legs. Spaghetti noodle immediately comest to mind as he wiggles and maneuvers his body in the most impossible ways! Joey was surrendered due to housing issues. His guardian says he knows the cues for sit, down, paw, bed time and food time and we see him offer sit and down when he notices we have some food. He loves bath time, going for car rides and snacking on anything he's given. He loves playing with his family. Joey previously lived with a small and medium dog and is noted to be playful and tolerant with them. He can be cautious around new people. Due to some fearfulness, handling sensitivity and poor impulse control, Joey will do best in an adult only home equipped to work on these challenges through positive reinforcement/rewards based training. Joey is approx. 1 year old, 48 pounds and his Id is #240593.' The volunteers made an adorable reel for Joey - PLEASE watch it and see how playful and sweet he truly is: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1HScnyzCRA/ If you can't cut and paste, please text me and I will send, he is so adorable in action . What my friends at ACC say about me: I would do best in a home with only adult humans.I'm sensitive and shy - I'll need extra help from you.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets. Not only do I pull at heart strings, but I also pull on leash! I'll need help with my leash manners. Joey should not lose his life because he ran out of time. Please help us make this miracle happen in time .
