***LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one-hour drive to Pensacola, Florida*** MITTENS is a 2-month-old female Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix who currently weighs 7 pounds. She was surrendered to a shelter with her sister and is now adjusting nicely in her foster home. MITTENS is the more affectionate of the two sisters and is usually the first to seek out attention. She absolutely loves being close to her people, giving kisses, and snuggling whenever she gets the chance. She follows her foster mom around and prefers to be right in the middle of whatever is going on. Her personality is loving, outgoing, and people-focused, and she truly thrives on attention and connection. MITTENS gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home and is already attempting to play with them. She will really love having a playful dog in her new home. We haven't had her around kids or cats but don't think she'll have a problem with either one. She enjoys small stuffed toys and puppy chew bones and is confidently exploring the world around her. MITTENS is learning the basics of puppy life and already knows how to use steps to get on and off the couch and bed. Potty pad training is underway, with early success, especially when she's placed in her pen right after waking up from naps or bedtime. Like most puppies her age, she is in the chewing stage and enjoys playing with toys. Mealtime is still a work in progress, as she tends to eat a bit and then cry to be back out with her people. At night, MITTENS happily curls up and sleeps in the big bed with her foster mom. MITTENS has had two puppy shots, her vet wellness check, a fecal test, and is microchipped with lifetime registration. Her third puppy shot is covered by the rescue and is due on January 27th. To protect her from parvo, she cannot go outside until She has had the third shot. Her spay will be scheduled at one of the rescue vets when she is old enough, and that procedure is included in the adoption fee. Because she has pending vet appointments, MITTENS is available for local adoption within a one hour drive to Pensacola. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
