About BOOTSIE

Adoption Fee: $500
Jack Russell / Chihuahua
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

***LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one-hour drive to Pensacola, Florida*** BOOTSIE is a 2-month-old female Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix who currently weighs 6 pounds. She was surrendered to a shelter with her sister and is now adjusting nicely in her foster home. BOOTSIE is a little shy at first and needs some time to feel safe, but once she does, her sweet personality really shines. She is more independent and curious than her sister and not quite as people-focused, though she still enjoys affection on her own terms. She follows her foster mom around but is also content to explore and entertain herself. BOOTSIE does well with the other dogs in her foster home and would love having a smaller doggie playmate in her new home. She can be sensitive to loud noises and big dogs barking. She enjoys playing independently with toys, curling up in a dog bed, and observing her surroundings. We have not had her around kids but wouldn't think they would be a problem. Cats are an unknown but she's a puppy and can learn how to behave with a cat. BOOTSIE is learning the basics of puppy life and already knows how to use steps to get on and off the couch and bed. Potty pad training is underway with early success, particularly when she's placed in her pen after naps or bedtime. Like most puppies her age, she is in the chewing stage and enjoys playing with toys. Mealtime is still a work in progress, as she tends to eat a bit and then cry to be back out with her people. At night, BOOTSIE happily snuggles up and sleeps in the big bed with her foster mom. BOOTSIE has had two puppy shots, her vet wellness check, a fecal test, and is microchipped with lifetime registration. Her third puppy shot is covered by the rescue and is due on January 27th. To protect her from parvo, she cannot go outside until She has had the third shot. Her spay will be scheduled at one of the rescue vets when she is old enough, and that procedure is included in the adoption fee. Because she has pending vet appointments, BOOTSIE is available for local adoption within a one hour drive to Pensacola. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
