About Morgan

Morgan was found one night in the middle of the road with two puppies and came into my care at that time. She lived with me for a couple of months before being adopted. After approximately two months in the adoptive home, Morgan was returned. The adopter reported that she was well behaved, adjusted easily, and had previously remained on the property without fencing. After the adoption, it was discovered that Morgan was pregnant, and she later delivered a litter of 11 puppies. During the postpartum and nursing period, the adopter reported difficulty managing the increased demands and behaviors associated with caring for a nursing mother, including food-seeking behavior (accessing kitchen trash), nighttime house-soiling, and leaving the property in search of food. Due to these challenges, Morgan was returned. At the time she returned to my care, Morgan had lost a significant amount of weight and is currently underweight, though she is gaining weight and doing well now. Despite the instability she has experienced, Morgan is a very well-mannered dog. Since returning, she has not had any issues with nighttime house-soiling. She is potty trained, crate trained, does well on off-leash walks, does not roam, and is good with children. She has a quiet, timid temperament and can be easily startled. Morgan is heartworm positive and has a documented heart murmur. The ideal home for her would be one that is prepared to pursue heartworm treatment and provide a stable, low-stress environment while she recovers.
