The part that shattered me was the moment I had to lead him back to the kennel he never should have known. His name is Camelo. He is located in Atlanta Ga. He's 3%BD years old, with the most beautiful, soulful markings and perfect gentleman behavior , and somehow he has been overlooked since August 2. I truly don't understand it - and that's the part that hurts the most. Camelo is considered a Level One dog at the shelter - the easiest category. Gentle. Manageable. A 'good boy.' This is remarkable as most dogs start to level up the longer they have been at the shelter This was the second time I took him out and you can see his personality in the videos and photos in the comments%A4. I can honestly say he is one of the sweetest, easiest dogs I've ever handled. He's super affectionate, loves to give kisses, and is so engaging with people. He didn't always used to be this way - he came in shy and scared, but he has worked so hard to trust. You can see how far he's come. We took another dog out with him, Lannie and it was incredible to watch. Lannie was a completely different dog with Camelo. He has this calming, grounding presence - the kind of dog that puts others at ease by being near them. Nothing prepares you for the moment you have to return a dog for the day and leave a dog like him behind. Camelo is not doing well in the kennel. He jumps so often that the shelter had to put a weight against his kennel gate to keep it secure. That's how desperate he is. That's how badly he wants out. A dog this loving, this easy, this emotionally aware is slowly declining behind bars, and it's heartbreaking to witness. I hated walking away from him. He doesn't belong there. A dog like Camelo deserves a family - not months of concrete and noise and loneliness. Dekalb has posted him multiple times. No responses. Still waiting. Please - can anyone foster him? Even temporarily? Just a break. Just relief. Just a chance to breathe. Camelo is quietly breaking'| and it's urgent. I gave him one of my signature red bowtie, collars for good luck. If you can help - foster, share, advocate - please do it now. He's still holding on'| but he's tired. Please share him and go meet him Dekalb County Animal Services
