'BAM' came to know humans in a very unfortunate way. Approximately 2 year old neutered male, Westie type terrier cross, 15 lb ***Tripod*** Bam was found by a good samaritan in California. They heard a large noise, like a gunshot or firecracker then found him cowering in their yard with his front leg barely attached and bleeding to death. The local humane society provided care and emergency amputation, then transferred his care to Gurrs & Purrs. Bam has spent the last few months in foster care, slowly learning to coexist and even trust people to the point he is ready for a forever home. He will need a special person who can be patient and accept that he is a traumatized feral dog learning to live with and trust humans. Bam LOVES other animals, dogs, cats, and goats. He is very food motivated and will dance for his breakfast, begging for food with the best of them. He does well with dog door access for outside potty (but not a fan of rain or the dark and will use a potty pad then). He does amazing in large groups of dogs. Bam does NOT love human snuggles. He is unlikely to ever be a needy lap-dog or have human separation anxiety but would be an amazing companion for a dog that needs a calm independent canine influence. Bam is, with calm persistent training, allowing people to pick him up and provide needed care. He will dance about with excitement when humans sweet talk him, just no touchie. He will sit with his human servants on the couch but does not compete for lap space. If you have other pets, particularly dogs, and a kind human that will accept a small friend that just wants to be around humans but not particularly snuggly then Bam is your guy. Give him a soft dog bed, a kind word, a chewy bone, reliable meals and he will forever be grateful -- from a distance.
