About Oaken

Oaken is a beautiful, affectionate husky mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. He is deeply loving with his people and bonds closely, making him a loyal, devoted companion to the person or family who earns his trust. True to his husky roots, Oaken is headstrong, intelligent, energetic, and playful. He is potty trained, heels well on leash, and thrives on structure, activity, and clear leadership. He loves engagement and would do best with someone who understands and appreciates huskies and their unique needs. Oaken does best as an only dog at first. He does not get along with other dogs without a proper, slow introduction process. That said, once introduced correctly, he has successfully coexisted with another husky and can build positive canine relationships with patience and guidance. He does have some leash reactivity and can be food protective, so an experienced, confident handler is important. Because of his energy level and occasional stress-related accidents, a home with a secure backyard is highly recommended. Oaken needs space to move, play, and decompress. He is not a good fit for apartment living or for someone with a very limited schedule. This is a very difficult decision, but one made out of love and responsibility. Due to my current work schedule, limited space, an unexpected move, and ongoing housing constraints, I am no longer able to provide Oaken with the consistency, structure, and environment he truly deserves. He is a wonderful dog, and it would be unfair to keep him in a situation where I cannot meet his needs fully. Oaken would thrive with someone who: -Has experience with huskies or working breeds -Can provide structure, training, and regular activity -Has a yard and time for engagement -Is looking for a loyal, loving best friend For the right person, Oaken will be an incredible companion-devoted, playful, and full of love.
