URGENT!!!! BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: ROSIE Breed: Lab Mix Age: 4.5 years old (70-80#) Sex: Female (spayed - not confirmed) Location: Douglas County, CO Vet Info: HW negative and UTD on vaccinations (not confirmed). Owner reports that cause of blindness is progressive retinal atrophy. She is completely blind, her retinas are gone. She is totally blind, totally deaf, has mild cerebellar hypoplasia causing seizures, but has been seizure free for 3 years straight taking Kepra 2x per day for life. Owner reports: Owners are looking to rehome her dog as they have a baby coming in 2 weeks and feel they can not give Rosie the attention she deserves. Rosie is described as an indoor dog with the run of the house. She is house broken and leash trained. Rosie is described as outgoing, good with adults and teenagers and other dogs. 'She has never bitten anyone or another dog, but if she is in her established home that she has been in long enough to establish that it is her home, she can be a bit territorial over treats and bones.' 'She has only snapped, she has never bitten. And it was only due to her being a bit territorial over a bone in her own home that she has established her territory. 'She also does not like inside of her ears being cleaned or her toes being trimmed unless it's by someone she totally trusts (my daughter is the only one who can do certain things currently). We typically take her to the vet for these things so they can keep her safe while giving her the maintenance she needs. She is blind and deaf so it's only natural that she gets nervous when people touch her sensitive areas.' 'Rosie is a wonderful dog despite her disabilities. She plays when you want her to play (tug of war, she plays 'find the ball' with herself, and lots of games that we can play even with her disabilities), and she can be a total lazy dog that just wants to hang out and chill with her companion all day. She just wants to be with someone who cares about her and will give her walks every day (her most favorite thing in the world). That's all she needs and all we desperately hope we can find for her.' 'We moved homes last year, and we were nervous because she had only known our other house her whole life, and she adapted and learned the whole house in a matter of weeks. She is fine with the stairs, knowing where the door to outside is, and it's truly amazing how well she adapts with her disabilities.' Can anyone help sweet Rosie? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
