About Mace

Adoption Fee: $500
Golden Retriever / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Mace Mace is a gentle soul who has been through more than her fair share and is slowly learning that life can be safe and cozy. She arrived in Wisconsin on 9/6/25 from Arkansas and was adopted straight off transport. Unfortunately, despite her adopter giving her several months and trying everything they could, Mace struggled to settle into life as the only dog. She is a timid girl at heart, and we've learned that she truly thrives when she has other dogs around to help her build confidence. Before coming to Wisconsin, Mace spent several months in a high-risk shelter after being found as a stray. That start to life left her a bit unsure of the world, but it also gave her a deep appreciation for calm, comfort, and kindness. Mace is now in a foster home with Mutt Life Dog Rescue that includes multiple dogs and cats, and she is doing better every single day. She gets along beautifully with the other dogs and doesn't pay any attention to the cats at all. Having canine friends around has made a noticeable difference, and she continues to come out of her shell more as she settles in. She's proudly a member of the 'shy girl club,' and she's proving just how special those dogs can be. She is fully potty trained and does wonderfully in her crate when left home alone. She doesn't chew her blankets and doesn't make a sound. Mace is starting to show interest in toys and enjoys light play, but her favorite activities are cuddling and sleeping in bed with her people. She's happy to sleep in as late as you want, with zero complaints. Furry blankets and tasty treats are some of her favorite things. Mace is a wonderful, loving girl who has been through a lot and deserves a patient, understanding home - ideally with at least one confident dog to help guide her. We will continue to update her as she becomes more comfortable in foster care, but it's already clear that she has so much love to give.
