About Duke

Duke is an 18-month-old black Lab mix with energy to spare and love in abundance. Weighing about 50 pounds, this handsome young guy is right in that sweet spot between playful puppy and loyal adult dog. He came to his current home from a family member, but due to life circumstances, Duke now needs a family who can give him the time, space, and activity he deserves. Duke is everything people love about Labs and Lab mixes - cuddly, affectionate, friendly, and eager to be close to his humans. He does wonderfully with women, men, and kids, and while he may bark briefly at certain men with long hair, it's more curiosity than fear and he quickly settles. When guests come over, Duke is super friendly and happy to meet everyone. He's a high-energy dog who loves getting out and moving, especially trips to the dog park where he can burn off steam and socialize. Duke knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and shake, is house trained, and is comfortable sleeping in his kennel at night. He's also good with other dogs and enjoys their company. Duke would thrive in a home with room to run and people who enjoy an active lifestyle. Apartment life hasn't been ideal for him, and he'll be happiest somewhere he can stretch his legs, play, and then come inside to cuddle up with his people - which is one of his favorite things to do.
