URGENT *** AT IMMEDIATE RISK OF EUTHENASIA. *** Meet 'Puppy'! This sweet boy is a beautiful male Great Pyrenees mix, estimated to be around 2 years old. Found wondering on the side of the road in September emaciated and dirty, we took Puppy in, in an attempt to do the right thing. We immediately began contacting rescues, shelters, and had multiple social media and Pawboost posts out trying to find a home. What we had hoped to be a short stint and easy rehome has turned into a now 4 month long endeavor. His characteristics are energetic and immensely sweet. This boy just wants to be loved, and loved, and loved. He can't get enough of it. He loves belly rubs and especially scratches behind his ears. He loves to play outside with his people. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate with no issue. He gets a bit jumpy when he's excited at no fault of his own, and we are working on discouraging this. In regard to Puppy's compatibility with other animals, I've listed both with dogs and cats as 'unknown'. Puppy does not seem to mind our Cat and has never bothered to chase, though long term exposure to cats has not been tested. In terms of Dogs, Puppy has two siblings. Our 8 year old female Great Pyr and a 1 year old German Shepherd. Puppy does well around his siblings, especially the male GSD who he loves to play with. With that said, Puppy must be given time and space to adjust to new siblings. With introductions done properly, and space given to adjust, we believe from our experience with his siblings he can adjust well to other dogs in the home. Immediately allowing unsupervised time with them would not be advised. Puppy has never shown signs of aggression towards people, and does not mind children. He is not leash trained. Due to him being a 'find' his vaccine status is unknown. We are requesting a $100 adoption fee, this fee will go directly towards getting his shots just prior to rehome. If an adopter would prefer having the vaccines done themselves, we may waive the adoption fee and accept a Vet reference and point of contact who can verify an appointment set for vaccines. A fenced in yard or large piece of land is a requirement. We do not believe this dog is suitable for apartment living. Finally, it is with a heavy heart and shame that I say we are out of resources to continue caring for Puppy. We have tried and sought both assistance, and adopters to no avail for months. We have unfortunately had several potential adopters back out last minute, and at this point our time is limited. Currently, Forsyth County considers him 'owner surrender' due to the length of time we've had him despite him being a stray. Forsyth Animal shelter is immediately euthanizing all owner surrenders. If a home cannot be found within the next week, we will have no other option than to submit him as an owner surrender for euthanasia.
