'Meet Max (aka Maximillian, Maximus) Max is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire mix with a handsome blue-gray coat, a big watermelon head, and soulful, expressive eyes. At 68 lbs of solid muscle, he's athletic, strong, and a total softie at heart. He's loyal, affectionate, and bonds deeply with his people. Once he feels safe, he's playful, snuggly, and loves being close. Max is house-trained, crate-trained, and thrives with routine, structure, and clear expectations. Max has been working closely with a professional trainer and has made excellent progress. He walks much better on leash, learns quickly, and is a smart, engaged dog who wants to do well. He is dog-friendly and has no history of issues with other dogs, though he can become excited and over-aroused when seeing dogs on leash. With training, he's learned to observe other dogs calmly from a distance, and this will only continue to improve with consitency. He's playful and has been extremely gentle and respectful with his older, smaller foster sister, adjusting his energy beautifully. Because of his size and sensitivity, Max would do best with a dog-savvy, adult-only home that can advocate for his space and continue his training. According to his prior owner, Max is cat-friendly and previously lived peacefully with cats. He was surrendered through no fault of his own when his owner could no longer care for him. With stability, structure, and patience, Max blossoms into a devoted, goofy, and incredibly loving companion-and an incredibly rewarding best friend. P.S. He's a teensy bit slobbery %A4%A4' Max is in foster in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/max.
