Adoption Fee: $50
Chihuahua mix
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Jack is a 12 year old, 20 pound, white, Chihuahua Mix. He was neutered in 10/2025. His Challenges: Jack has seizures but they are well-managed with prescription medication he receives twice daily. Medication costs are $20-25/month . Jack has forgotten his housebreaking training due to being around other rescue dogs who were incontinent. He is super smart however, and there is confidence that he can be retrained. Jack does have a tendency toward seasonal hotspots, so a new owner will need to be diligent with monthly flea medication and bathing, particularly in warm weather months. When on walks, Jack is protective of his human but has become less reactive with more practice. He is also protective at home when strangers come to visit. You will hear him bark in his biggest voice. However, we have observed him become less barky as familiarity grows with family and caretakers. Jack does not like to be picked up or pushed. For these reasons, he would be best placed in the home of a loving person or couple but probably not a family with young children. Jack's Assets: Jack listens and is a good walker on a leash. He is fine with other dogs and cats that live at home with him. Jack craves attention, is very affectionate, and is very willing to please. He has energy and is silly. He loves to play fetch and he LOVES treats! Jack's story is heartbreaking. He was abandoned by his family while in foster care when they relocated out of state. He has been fostered since, for at least 8 years, but his owner has suffered declining physical and cognitive health during this time and has finally had to permanently relocate into Assisted Living. During this time, Jack has not had the care and love he deserves. For the last 7 months, he has been living at home with another dog, with twice daily visits from a pet sitter for food, play, and walks. It just isn't an acceptable living situation. Jack needs to be in a stable loving family environment, to change some of the above challenges into assets. His home is getting ready to be rented out to help financially support his owner, so unfortunately, time is running out. Please help Jack find a new forever home!
