About CHARLIE

Adoption Fee: $500
Maltese mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

CHARLIE is an 18-month-old, 10.6-lb Maltese mix who came to us when his owner had too many dogs and was no longer able to provide individual care. He's a sweet little white teddy bear of a dog whose coat had to be shaved when he arrived due to severe matting. It's already growing back nicely and he's going to be absolutely beautiful as it fills in. CHARLIE can be a bit shy at first and meet and needs time to feel safe in new situations. He is sensitive to fast movements and may be skittish until he gets to know his people, but once trust is built, his affectionate side shines through. He craves attention. He is not a kisser, but he loves to snuggle and get up next to his person and whines softly when he wants love. He warms up on his own timeline and does best when allowed to move at his own pace. CHARLIE does well with other dogs once he's had time to adjust and previously lived indoors with four dogs and two cats. He loves playing with the other little dogs in his foster home and he would be best with another little playful dog but he could also be okay as an only with the right family. Because noise and sudden activity can be overwhelming for him, he would be happiest in a quieter home without small children. He enjoys running, playing, and showing off his impressive jumping skills. When things get loud or busy, he may retreat to a quiet space to decompress, especially in the early days. CHARLIE is mostly housebroken (he has only had a few accidents) and usually will let you know when he needs to go outside. He has not yet had leash experience, so for now a home with a fenced yard is what we are looking for. He slept comfortably in his kennel for the first few nights but has since discovered that the big bed is pretty nice too and enjoys curling up to sleep with his foster family. CHARLIE is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
