About Minerva

German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Minerva will turn 5 years old Aug 6th 2026, she is an amazing protection dog when it comes to guarding the house or you walking. She was never professionally trained, but honestly should have been a K9 dog. I am a female and she was always on alert on walks, hikes, or even at home staring out the window. She loves hiking and her favorite is running side by side on a mountain hike/run. She is the best outdoors companion. Unfortunately I recently had a baby and Minerva has not adjusted well and whines a lot because of the baby crying. I also feel like she doesn't get the attention or exercise she deserves and needs due to my new life style. She's kenneled a lot as of late due to her being a little hyper around the baby. She deserves the life she was meant to live with someone who is very active and outdoorsy. I will say, Minerva is very timid of men at first, she becomes very reactive of seeing new male faces. But once she knows the man, she is very happy and hyper to see them. Her reactivity towards hearing people at the door can be much, she is very over protective of her home and people. She loves kids, but can be too much sometimes jumping on them and plays a little rough. I recommend not letting children jump on her, she doesn't prefer that. Kids are fine, but she thrives best with adults. She is very dominant when it comes to meeting new dogs and always tries to make that clear by being aggressive. But after some constant introduction she can become more okay with them. She lived with another male dog for her entire life and never showed aggression, she just constantly checked him. She can be sneaky and get into the garbage but overall has always been trusted to be free range inside. She never has accidents or chews things up. She's not a runner if off leash, but pulls the leash because she's use to running with me. I will say I have always made her food with human homemade food, not kibble. I'd like for her to find a new forever home with someone who is willing to give me updates on her throughout her life. It breaks my heart to let her go, I just can't be who she needs anymore.
