Amazing Aqua! Aqua is a brilliant, athletic cattle dog-type girl with a big heart, an even bigger brain, and the kind of loyalty that sticks close to your side-literally. True to her herding roots, Aqua is deeply bonded to her person and thrives when she knows her role and routine. Aqua starts her days with purpose: a 45-minute morning walk, followed by an hour-long evening walk paired with ball play and tug. In between, she loves engaging her mind with scent work, happily hunting down hidden treats and toys around the house. Aqua is insanely smart-smart enough to figure out how to open a back door with a horizontal handle-so continued mental enrichment is a must for this clever girl. Once Aqua warms up, she is affectionate, playful, and people-loving. After initial greetings, she often brings visitors a toy to invite them to play. She is a world-class cuddler who will happily sleep through the night right next to you and would truly go anywhere with her person. Aqua has excellent stamina and strength, enjoys rollerblading, hiking, and off-leash adventures, and has a solid 8/10 recall on trails. She is fully crate trained, 100% potty trained, and rides beautifully in the car. Aqua also has some 'dog in progress' traits that are important to understand. She is a naturally watchful cattle dog and will bark when visitors knock or enter the home, though she settles after a few minutes and does well being crated during arrivals. She also barks when people approach the car while she is inside, but otherwise loves car rides. On leash, Aqua can be reactive to passing dogs and currently needs about 20-30 feet of space to remain calm. With consistency, structure, and training, these behaviors are very manageable and largely preventable. Aqua is a devoted shadow who likes to stay close to her person. She has learned an 'off switch' with guidance and understands when it's time to settle and relax. She walks nicely on leash using either a gentle leader (for close walking) or a harness (when given more freedom), and she has successfully participated in group walks with familiar dogs, including a small terrier mix and a German Shepherd. Aqua has had dog friends before and can do well with the right introductions. Aqua's Ideal Forever Home: Aqua is looking for a confident, active home that understands herding-breed traits and is ready to provide leadership, consistency, and continued training. She will do best with adults or older children who respect dogs and boundaries. An adopter who enjoys outdoor adventures, mental games, and including their dog in daily life will see Aqua absolutely shine. With the right guidance, Aqua isn't just a good dog-she's an exceptional one. Her intelligence, loyalty, and drive make her a deeply rewarding companion for someone ready to meet her where she is and help her grow into her very best self.
