About Remy

Adoption Fee: $50
German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Remy is 66 pounds of pure love in dog form. He absolutely lives for playtime and has the happiest, most playful spirit. Whether it's playing with toys, running around outside, or relaxing on the couch after a fun day, Remy is always all in. Outside, his favorite things are playing ball, carrying sticks, and chasing around with other dogs. He has a wonderful way of turning play into connection and joy. Inside, he transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug. Remy will happily soak up every cuddle, snuggle, and bit of affection you're willing to give. He adores human interaction and thrives on pets, attention, and being close to his people. When he sees other dogs, he can become a bit reactive (barks and pulls) because he has not been properly socialized. Remy does best with dogs he knows and is familiar with, and once he's comfortable, he loves playing and spending time with them, especially playing outside. He has been incredibly sweet and gentle with our daughter, showing just how tender and loving he truly is. He is very food- and treat-motivated, which makes him eager to please and a joy to work with. Above all else, Remy is a ball of love-soft-hearted, affectionate, and deeply devoted. He is truly one of the most tender, loving dogs we've ever known. Since the birth of our child six months ago, we have seen a slight change in Remy's behavior toward our other dogs. He has always been so sweet to our baby, but occasionally does not love when one of our other dogs gets too close. Sometimes when he perceives one of our other dogs is too close, he shows some corrective behavior. His favorite toys are toys that squeak, however, he is polite when it comes time to relax. Remy has basic obedience training and is well versed in sit, stay, come, lay down, crate, touch and is working on shake. Remy could use some continued obedience training to help him stay fresh with these commands. Remy is neutered and is microchipped. He is up to date on all of his vaccines and his future new owner will be given full vet records upon adoption. Remy loves when you put his collar or his leash on. He tolerates the touching of his paws and will even let us clip his nails one nail at a time, with a treat in between each nail. He takes medication in a pill pocket with peanut butter on top. He will tolerate a bath, however, he isn't a huge fan of water (he does fine with rain and snow). He hasn't been on many car rides, but I'm sure with exposure would do just fine. Admittedly, with a 6 month old, we are not able to give Remy the time and energy he needs right now to put into training and to ensure that he is stimulated enough throughout the day. He is the world's sweetest dog and cuddle bug, but this big life change has been an adjustment that has thrown him off a bit and he deserves someone who has more time and energy into helping him be the best possible dog he can be. Remy would benefit from the following: -No other dogs or cats in home or a someone who is willing and committed to do the training and work with him to manage a multi-animal household -Experienced home - GSD, working breeds or large dog experience -Spacious property - enclosed backyard (secure fencing), country living or rural environment -Someone home often - flexible schedule, remote worker or semi-retired -Calm, quiet household with predictable routines. Crate, toys, leash, collar, food, bed, full veterinary and genetic records will accompany Remy upon adoption.
