About Ruby

Meet Ruby. She is our Ferdinand. A purebred black and tan hound, she is 9 years old. We got Ruby when she was 2. She was trained to tree mountain lions and bobcats, but despite the best efforts of her first owners, Ruby preferred being with people more and wasn't interested in chasing cats like her brothers and sisters. So we took her into our home. After lots of careful consideration, we decided Ruby needs a family who can give her more attention. She has the sweetest disposition and is great with kids and other dogs. Ruby has been trained and is great on a leash. She loves adventures outside but can also be a couch potato - beware: she snores. Like any hound, she can honestly be a blockhead sometimes. But she doesn't bay like many hounds and only occasionally barks at other dogs when they are walking by our outdoor pen. She will cuddle with anyone who allows her, and believes herself to the perfect lap dog. Ruby is truly gentle, which has been tested by both our young children! Ruby has not had any health issues to date. We hope Ruby can live out the rest of her years with people who can give her the attention and exercise she craves. She's a good doggie.
