Please prepare to provide the following information to the staff about you, your family, the city in which you live, other pets, your fenced yard, and whatever else will help identify your family as a good match. You are encouraged to call the shelter for updated information and availability, and to answer your specific questions. Meet Aleana! This lovely lady is about 8 months old. and currently weighs about 50lbs. She is looking for a special home, who understands that she may not have a normal lifespan. Unfortunately, when she went to the vet, they found a significant heart murmur, and indications that she has a congenital heart defect. She enjoys a great quality of life in her day to day - and she has no idea that anything is wrong! - but this could mean that she does not live a typical lifespan. Many dogs enjoy long, healthy lives with a heart deformity, but some do not. We believe she is very deserving of a forever home, however long her forever is! Aleana was found far up a mountain road. When she arrived, she was timid and has been taken into a wonderful foster home who is helping to show her the ropes. She has been doing well with her foster pal, another large female dog. She has been doing great with crate training, and has excellent potty manners, too. She does appropriate chewing on provided toys for her age, and loves nylabones and antlers. She is still timid with new people, but is working on getting out and about more to help her grow her social skills! She walks well on a leash. She loves her foster mom and snuggling on the couch. Aleana is an intelligent, sweet dog looking for someone to give her a chance. Could it be you? I am fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. My adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor! There is no fee to adopt me. If you are interested, please call the shelter at (541) 474-5458. You can view more adoptable pets at www.jocoshelter.com/adoptions . Walk-ins are welcome, however we highly recommend calling first to check on availability and location (some animals may be offsite or unavailable). Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times, especially for dogs.
