About Zion

Adoption Fee: 350
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This red boy is Zion. He weighs about 35 pounds and is about 4 years old. He also has a natural bob tail. Zion's foster has done good work with this guy. He knows: sit, down, heel, sit stay, down stay, recall, kennel, and place. He had a repertoire of tricks as well: roll over, paw, boing (jump). If you are into dog sports, Zion has a head start. He has already competed in flyball after only 3 months of training. Plus, Zion is house and crate trained, and does need to be crated when left alone at home so he doesn't get into things. He picks up new skills very quickly. Zion is good around men and women. He hasn't been around young kids. He gets excited to meet people, and can get jumpy to get pets from the new person. Zion is good with other dogs and is a good playmate. Click on the red YouTube video to see him playing in the park with a dog pal. He also respects dogs who don't want to play. He takes a correction politely and gives space. He does greet dogs like he greets people, with zeal, so it's best to manage a greeting so the other dog isn't surprised by Zion's excitement to say hi. As for cats, he will absolutely chase a cat. Zion LOVES to fetch: ball, frisbee, any toy. He also retrieves balls and tugs from the water, and really enjoys a good hike. Zion is good on leash and good in the car. He typically rides in a crate in the car because his foster crates all of her dogs in the car. He doesn't cause any fuss. Zion's home before rescue didn't give rules and structure, so he was a typical Cattle Dog punk. Zion's foster provides rules and that sets him up for success. He has that true Cattle Dog temperament and will take advantage if you let him get away with things. With continued activity and structure to set him up for success, this guy is a gem. When all of the fun is done, Zion loves to be pet. He wants to be included in all of the fun things you do and makes a wonderful adventure partner. Zion is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in Southern CA, and is ready to meet adopters who can come here to adopt. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt.
