LOCATION: Wichita, KS DOB: 08/02/2022 Blue is a striking blue merle Great Dane with a loving, expressive personality and a curious mind. He truly enjoys being close to his people, soaking up pets and holding eye contact like he's having a full conversation with you. He has playful bursts of energy with joyful zoomies, and then-almost instantly-he's sound asleep, perfectly content to rest after the fun. His energy level is moderate and manageable. Blue enjoys activity and play, but he settles nicely and understands how to relax. He's a happy boy who wags his entire back end when he's excited. Toys are a big favorite, especially small squeaky ones. He pokes them with his nose, pushes them onto you, and insists you notice them. He loves a good game of tug, plays independently by tossing toys into the air and catching them, and if allowed, would happily curl up close and fall fast asleep. Blue is also famously nosey-he likes to inspect everything and be part of whatever is happening. Blue is fully house trained and has even learned to use the doggy door, though he sometimes needs a reminder that it's there. He's crate trained and chooses to sleep in his crate at night with the door open. He's not an early riser and will gladly sleep in late if given the chance. He walks on a leash but gets excited and pulls when there's a lot to sniff, something he's actively working on. Car rides are one of his favorite things, and he's always happy to load up and go. Blue is confident with sounds and isn't bothered by loud noises, but he does not do well with cats and should not live in a home with them. He has shown dog reactivity, and interactions with other dogs have not gone well so far. Because of this, Blue should be the only dog in the home while he continues training and behavior work with experienced guidance. He's smart and learns quickly, but he does best with consistency and clear expectations. He enjoys meeting people and generally does well with adults, though introductions need to be handled thoughtfully. Blue can be very excited initially, and while he may seem immediately open, there are moments where he needs his personal space respected. Due to recent incidents related to overstimulation and boundaries, Blue is best suited for an adult-only home with calm, respectful visitors and a predictable routine. He is not recommended for a home with young children. Blue thrives in a structured, low-chaos environment with people who understand large dogs and are committed to continuing his training. A quieter household with fewer visitors and outings suits him best, as too much activity and change can become overwhelming over time. He does not have separation anxiety, respects fencing, and settles well when given clear guidance. Blue is a bright, affectionate dog who wants to connect deeply with his people, and with the right home-calm, consistent, and committed-he has all the tools to continue growing into the best version of himself. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .
