House trained. Crate trained, only uses when eating, has good behavior when left out and alone. Any known medical issues?: Atopic Dermatitis which is Environmental Allergies / itchy skin and is on Apoquel, one a day. ENERGY LEVEL: MEDIUM. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: MEDIUM, but only with outside critters. Good with cats, Etc in the home as long as not triggered. Weighs 80 lbs. Currently on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Grain-Free Smoked Flavored Salmon Dry food. Good with car rides?:LOVES . Socialized with: *people?: YES. READ BELOW. *dogs?: YES. READ BELOW! . Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): YES, READ BELOW! Kya does have Resource Guarding and Food Aggression. She is TERRITORIAL of all of her belongings and food, and even where she sits on the couch. She will nip/bite if triggered. All kids, pets and strangers need to be monitored to make sure to avoid triggering her, such as making sure no one has food around her. She does not like for people to come up on her, so do not let strangers try to touch or pet her. She eats inside of her crate to avoid incidents. She Resource Guards bones so the bone has to stay in her crate as well. She will try to nip if you PHYSICALLY try to make her get up out of her spot on the couch. Tricking her to get up on her own works wonders, just do not PHYSICALLY come at her to try to move her. She is a great girl, just has Resource Guarding / Food Aggression issues. All incidents have been MINOR, WARNING nips letting you know that she is not comfortable with you and getting any closer. Loves: getting lovings - barking at neighbors - playing with dogs that she knows (but please make sure to prevent any triggers with NO food involved) - toys - sticks - going on walks - car rides - cuddling - chilling on the couch - playing with kids (but please make sure to prevent any triggers with NO food involved) - balls - fetch - sleeping in bed with her person - being near her person - stuffies - squeakies. *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: YES. *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH): FAIR. *Good on a Leash?: FAIR. *Lovable?: YES. *Eager and fast learner?: YES. ��|�Bite History?: YES. NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: Kya truly is a very wonderful dog. I know from this application it does not seem like it but she is. She will lay on the couch with you during a movie, cuddle up beside you in the bed, roll over for belly scratches, howl when the fire department siren goes off and much more. I love this dog with everything in me and it breaks my heart that I am filling this application out. We take Kya with us everywhere. She has been on car rides to Cincinnati, Columbus, Charlotte NC, Bristol TN, Tampa FL, Charleston SC and many more places. We have had zero issues with her on these trips. We do put a muzzle on her when we go in public just to be cautious. Mainly cautious of other people, people are stupid. Re Homing because�'�|: The Current Shepherd Parent works and travels a lot and is not comfortable with Kya's Resource Guarding and Food Aggression and leaving his girlfriend there to deal with it all and handle the issues. He's afraid that if he is not there, that something bad may happen and feels the best solution is to find Kya the home that she needs. He is Kya's Person and who she respects and listens to and has the bond with. So with him not there, it's not an ideal situation. Will thrive best�'�|?: in a loving home with someone who has time and experience to work with Kya through her Resource Guarding and Food Aggression. If you have kids or pets, you have to be able to be home a lot to supervise and be confident that you can work through these issues. Kya will be an amazing companion for the right person.
