Doug is the definition of easygoing, with a relaxed personality and a quiet charm that wins people over quickly. This polite, gentle one-year-old Flat Coated Retriever mix weighs 54 pounds and is a joy to have around. Doug enjoys short bursts of play followed by long, cozy naps, and his favorite place to relax is right in your lap if you will let him. He loves toys and has an endearing way of galloping after a frisbee once it is thrown, all lanky puppy legs and happy focus. He knows Sit and Down, walks well on a leash, and is house trained with regular potty breaks, usually letting you know when he needs to go out. He does well with other dogs, is curious and polite around cats, and greets new people with calm confidence. Doug has not been around children in our care, but we expect he would do just fine. He is excellent in a crate, though he can get bored and may whine a bit, and he should only have safe, chew proof items since he takes his chewing hobbies seriously. Car rides are not his favorite at first, but once he is inside, he happily settles in for a nap. Doug would thrive in a relaxed home, possibly with another friendly dog, where he can enjoy enrichment, gentle play, and continued training.
