About Panther has till 12/21

Rottweiler / Catahoula
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Urgent!!! this 14 month old boy will be killed on 12/22 because of severe kennel stress!! He needs saving by 12/21!! PANTHER, A2237312 - NEUTERED MALE, BLACK AND BROWN ROTTWEILER MIX. Shelter: WEST VALLEY Age: 1 YR, 2 MOS Weight: 55 LBS. Scheduled Euthanasia Date: 12/22/2025. This animal has been at the shelter since 10/08/2025 and on this list since 12/16/2025. Reason for euthanasia: Based on repeated daily behavioral observations, Panther is experiencing significant distress and deterioration in the shelter environment. On 12/10/25, 12/11/25, and 12/12/25, Panther was consistently observed exhibiting stress-related behaviors including constant pacing, circling, repeatedly going in and out of his cubby, side-to-side movement, and persistent hoarse barking. These behaviors have been ongoing despite routine care and indicate that Panther is not coping with the shelter setting and requires removal from this environment. Behavioral descriptors and notes further support this assessment. Panther displays signs of anxiety and separation anxiety, is flighty, and struggles with appropriate canine social skills, described as awkward, pushy, and occasionally stiff with other dogs, though he is steerable with intervention. While Panther is affiliative and prefers people, these traits have not mitigated the escalating stress he experiences while kenneled. His anxiety and overstimulation increase in confined spaces. Although Panther demonstrates positive qualities outside the kennel-being easy to leash, non-reactive when passing other dogs, friendly and sweet with people, and playful in the yard-these moments of normal behavior do not translate to the shelter environment. His ongoing and worsening kennel stress, vocalization, and repetitive behaviors indicate a poor quality of life in the shelter with no improvement over time. Given the documented pattern of declining mental well-being, inability to acclimate to the shelter environment, and the absence of a viable alternative placement that meets his behavioral needs, humane euthanasia is recommended in the interest of Panther's welfare to prevent further psychological suffering. Last day to take animal:12/21/25 Scheduled euthanasia date:12/22/23
