CHLOE is a 2.5 year old, 11 pound Schnauzer Yorkie mix surrendered to the rescue after the death of her owner. She is a beautiful little girl with a big personality. CHLOE is a devoted little companion who wants to be with her person as much as possible. She is a true snuggle bug and will happily run to you, dancing on her back legs, asking to be picked up and held. She has separation anxiety and struggles when left alone, often pawing at doors or tangling with blinds. She will not be good in a home where she spends much time alone at all. CHLOE would very much like to be an only dog but could tolerate an older, larger canine companion who is calm and not bossy. She is quick to correct small dogs that persistently invade her personal space, but she is not aggressive. She has not been tested with cats. A home without young children is required, though teens would be fine. CHLOE is potty trained but does not alert when she needs to go out, so routine potty breaks are important. She is not a fan of leash walks and will test boundaries by trying to back out of collars or harnesses, so a secure no-escape harness is strongly recommended when she is outside of a secured area. She needs a home with a 6-foot privacy fence as she can easily climb tall pet gates and chain-link fencing. She rides okay in the car and is best riding in a seat level dog car seat. At night, CHLOE sleeps quietly in a dog bed placed on the big bed and prefers a blanket tucked in just right. Crate training is a work in progress, but her anxiety makes it challenging, with crying and pawing at the crate. She will need a patient, understanding home willing to continue working with her. When CHLOE arrived, she was severely matted and had to be shaved down, revealing what a lovely little girl she truly is. With her short haircut and cooler weather, she has discovered a love for hoodies and onesies and seems to genuinely enjoy playing dress-up. Her grooming needs are minimal right now, but will increase as her hair continues to grow out. She does well with baths but isn't a fan of nail trims. CHLOE is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
