About Duncan

Duncan is an intelligent and energetic pit bull/border collie mix. He learns new tricks and enrichment games quickly and is already familiar with most of the basic commands (sit, stay, come, etc.). He benefits greatly from a routine schedule and is comfortable spending the day in his crate while we are at work. He is a lovable goof ball that likes playing tug of war and spending time with familiar people. We adopted Duncan from the Tacoma Human Society in August with little known about his history. Over the last four months Duncan has exhibited signs of reactivity, separation anxiety, and fear toward strangers, likely due to trauma prior to his adoption. He is easily triggered by strangers and other dogs. Unfortunately, our home is in an urban neighborhood, and the high amount of foot traffic outside means he struggles to relax both inside and outside. We've been working with him to help him overcome his issues but due to a change in work responsibilities we won't have the bandwidth to provide him with the attention he needs. We would recommend a quiet home with a yard that does not have kids or other pets. Duncan is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. He currently is on a twice daily dosage of Gabapentin and Clonidine for his fear and anxiety.
