About CODY

Adoption Fee: $300
Dachshund
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

CODY is an 8-year-old, 22 pound black and tan Dachshund who was surrendered because his owner was unable to give him the care that he needed. He arrived as a chunky boy with some skin issues that have since been treated and he's now looking fabulous! He also started a diet immediately and lost 5 lbs, with just a few more to go to reach his optimal weight, which is crucial for his long-term health. CODY is an absolute dream boat with people. He is a total love bug and wants nothing more than to be with his person soaking up affection. He lives for belly rubs, butt scratches, face rubs, kisses, and snuggles. CODY gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes and has done well with every dog he has met. He has not been tested with kids but we believe he would do well in a home with older children who are educated on proper Dachshund handling. He has not been tested with cats. CODY is potty trained as long as he is given regular trips outside. He enjoys car rides and loves looking out the window. He does not require a fenced yard, but he would certainly enjoy one, especially since he is a bit of a sun worshipper. He also makes a great early-warning security system: he will bark when strangers enter the home but stops when told no. CODY has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and is doing very well on medication (the cost is approximately $20 per month). The improvement with the combined meds and weight loss has been remarkable: during his first week in foster care, he could only walk a few steps before needing to rest. Now, he has increased energy and stamina, loves chasing his foster siblings, and enjoys playing tug-of-war with his foster mom. CODY is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is ready to find a forever home where he can continue his journey and share all the love he has to give. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review.
