Let's just be honest about Archie. Archie just turned one year old and has already been through three homes. That's a lot of change for any dog, and especially for a young Rottweiler who is still learning how the world works. Archie was originally surrendered to us, adopted, then later surrendered to another shelter. From there, he made his way back to us, was adopted again'| and now he's back once more. So yes - Archie comes with some baggage. But it's the kind that makes sense when you look at his history. Archie is a big, strong, working-breed teenager who never really got the foundation he needed. He leads with his mouth when he's excited, which means play biting and mouthiness are part of the package right now. It has caused bruising in the past, and while it has never been aggressive, it can absolutely be overwhelming if you aren't experienced with large, high-energy dogs. The reality is that Archie needs a serious training commitment. Not a 'we'll take a class and see how it goes' situation - he needs someone who understands structure, consistency, boundaries, and how to channel a young working dog's brain. Because of his size and play style, Archie would do best in a home without small dogs. A confident, experienced owner with working breeds (or large power breeds) will be the best match for him. Archie isn't the dog for everyone - and that's okay. But for the right person who understands what they're getting into and is excited to put the work in, Archie has the potential to grow into an incredible companion.
